accadis ISB has received accreditation from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and is now an official IB World School, authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Grades 11 and 12 from August 2016. The IB Diploma is recognized in Germany and globally as a university entrance qualification.
The IBO accreditation visit took place at the end of January 2016 and the IBO decided shortly afterwards to approve the accreditation (although this process can sometimes take up to two months). After meeting and discussing the preparation for the programme with the teaching staff and seeing our facilities, the IBO confirmed that accadis ISB is well prepared to start teaching the Diploma Programme next school year.
Samantha Malmberg, Secondary School Principal, is very pleased about the accreditation and is looking forward to the introduction of the IB curriculum: “Being authorized to offer such a broad and challenging programme is an exciting moment for accadis ISB, and one more step towards establishing ourselves as a local leading international school.”
accadis ISB now joins an international community of educators with the programmes of the IBO being taught at more than 4,000 schools worldwide. The IB programme is completed under exactly the same conditions in all the countries around the world and is recognized in Germany and internationally as a university entrance examination. Based on its academic requirements, the IB Diploma enjoys an excellent reputation at universities worldwide. The IB World Schools all share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, and international education - something that accadis ISB believes is important for its students.
IB students develop a globally focused mindset which is something the international accadis ISB faculty reflects. The teaching which takes place in English prepares the students for their careers in globally operating companies from the day one.
The wide-ranging and well-balanced curriculum ensures a high academic standard in the education provided. The cross-curricular approach which is reinforced in such subjects as „Theory of Knowledge“ is pivotal.
Students choose to study six subjects covering a wide range of curricular areas:
- Studies in Language and Literature
- Language Acquisition
- Individuals and Societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- The Arts
Students cover a wide curricular spectrum with their selection – something which is also embedded in the German Abitur: languages, mathematics, social and natural sciences. Alternative to an Arts course the students may additionally choose a further subject from one of the other groups and specialize in that manner.
