On Wednesday, 22 May 2024, accadis International School Bad Homburg ceremoniously bid farewell to its seventh cohort of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) and congratulated the graduates on this significant milestone. Six of the students have attended accadis ISB since Preschool or Elementary School.
Dressed in caps and gowns, the students were awarded their High School Diplomas in the festively decorated function room in the new school building. Congratulations came from Head of School Janina Sparks, Head of Secondary School Dr. Stefan Wolkenfeld and Prof. Christoph Kexel, Managing Partner of accadis International School Bad Homburg (accadis ISB). Five students were honoured for special achievements. The traditional tossing of the caps was the highlight of the Graduation Ceremony - an emotional moment.
Well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of future life
Words of praise as well as personal words came from Head of School Janina Sparks. "You have successfully completed the demanding International Baccalaureate Programme and can be extremely proud of yourselves. You were a very international group, representing many different cultures and languages." She referred to the value system of accadis ISB and emphasised in particular the personal commitment of each individual. Dr. Stefan Wolkenfeld connected elements of his speech to the final song “Good old days” chosen by the graduating class and bade farewell with the words: "One day, these will be the good old days. Stay curious, be brave, be yourself, believe in yourself and be happy!"
Bilingual since Preschool
Two graduates have spent more than 15 years at accadis ISB, as they were accepted into the bilingual kindergarten at the age of 2. A further four graduates have completed an educational journey of over ten years at accadis ISB. It is particularly noteworthy that these students have experienced all three locations in the history of accadis. "This makes me very proud and shows me that parents trust us and the quality of our education," says Prof. Christoph Kexel. "Watching the children develop and now seeing them here on stage gives me great pleasure.”
Why Universities Value the IB
The IB Diploma qualifies for university study in Germany and worldwide. Universities value both the breadth and depth of study in this programme, which focuses on students taking a broad perspective and acquiring advanced research, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Focus on Study Skills from Day One
An advantage of accadis ISB is the close collaboration with the accadis Hochschule. In this way. There is a focus on study skills from day one. For example, the subject "Business Management" from the IB subject group "Individuals and Societies" is taught by Prof Dr Andreas Huber, Head of the Department of Marketing and Media at the accadis Hochschule. Here, students learn to understand and evaluate the impact of business activities on the global market.
accadis ISB congratulates its graduates and looks forward to following their future successes.
