Personal experiences often provide the best insight into everyday school life. That is why we invited parents to share their family's story with accadis International School Bad Homburg. In our interview series, families talk about their experiences, their impressions and what makes accadis ISB so special to them.

Today we are speaking with Jan-Felix and his mother Martina. In the 2025–2026 school year, Jan-Felix transferred to Grade 7 in the bilingual Secondary School at accadis ISB. They share why they chose the school, how the transition went and why Jan-Felix now feels so at home at accadis ISB.

What inspired you to enroll Jan-Felix in the accadis ISB Secondary School?

The school's international approach was the deciding factor for us. Jan-Felix had already gained some experience with bilingual education at a German state school and quickly developed a real interest in it. We wanted to nurture that potential further. The internationally recognized educational program at accadis ISB was particularly convincing.

How did you experience the admissions process?

The admissions process was very pleasant and well organized. The Open Day and the Trial Days, in particular, gave us authentic insights into everyday school life and the school's educational philosophy. It quickly became clear to us that accadis ISB was an excellent fit for Jan-Felix and for our family.

How did you and Jan-Felix experience the first weeks at accadis ISB, especially in Grade 7?

From day one, Jan-Felix received a warm welcome from both his teachers and classmates. It did not take long for him to make his first friends. We especially appreciated how closely the teachers supported his transition, both academically and socially. As parents, we always felt well informed thanks to the school's transparent communication and clear organization. We also knew that we could easily reach out to the teachers whenever we had questions.

What makes the accadis ISB Secondary School different from other schools, and what do you think makes it special?

What impresses us most is the atmosphere of appreciation and respect that can be felt throughout the school. The relationship between teachers and students is built on mutual respect and trust, creating a motivating learning environment. At the same time, the school's international mindset is not only taught - it is part of everyday life.

How would you describe the atmosphere and community at accadis ISB?

The community is open, respectful and characterized by mutual appreciation. The international environment helps children feel welcome very quickly and makes it easy for them to become part of the school community.

What has been your favorite experience so far?

For Jan-Felix, the first class trip was definitely a highlight. The shared activities and the international atmosphere strengthened the class community in a very special way.

As parents, we especially remember the Trial Days. After just those two days, Jan-Felix knew that accadis ISB was exactly the right school for him. We had not seen him that motivated in a long time.

How does Jan-Felix experience learning at accadis ISB and the support provided by his teachers?

Jan-Felix feels very well supported by his teachers. When he transitioned into English-taught Mathematics lessons, he received a great deal of individual guidance, which helped him make rapid progress. Overall, he experiences his teachers as approachable, supportive and reliable. Their constructive feedback helps him assess his own performance realistically and continue developing with confidence.

How has the school contributed to your child's personal development so far?

Since joining accadis ISB, we have seen Jan-Felix become noticeably happier, more relaxed and more self-confident. The well-structured school day and the open communication between the school, students and parents provide a strong sense of security and orientation. Today, Jan-Felix experiences school as a place where collaborative learning, personal growth and mutual respect are at the heart of everyday life.

Our sincere thanks to Jan-Felix and his mother Martina for sharing their experiences with us.
